Each week, we ask five editors five questions on a different topic. This week’s installment focuses on New Year’s traditions—what they resolve and predict for the year ahead and what they’ll be doing when the clock strikes midnight.

1. In 2014, I’m going to start: Cooking.

2. I’m going to stop: Watching hours of The West Wing on Netflix.

3. The resolution I never kept: To start cooking.

4. My top prediction for 2014: Amanda Bynes will launch a comeback career as a talent show host.

5. By midnight, I’ll most likely be: 2+ margaritas deep.

1. In 2014, I’m going to start: Going to more museum exhibits, starting with “Edgar Allan Poe: Terror of the Soul” at the Morgan Library & Museum (only until end of January 2014).

2. I’m going to stop: Energy drinks.

3. The resolution I never kept: Sign up for regular SoulCycle classes.

4. My top prediction for 2014: Big comeback for independent bookstores and vinyl record stores.

5. By midnight, I’ll most likely be: Angling for a prime place on the couch to watch the ball drop in Times Square on TV with my kids, who are old enough to stay up to midnight—for special occasions.

1. In 2014, I’m going to start: Being more responsible about sun protection.

2. I’m going to stop: Looking at my phone so frequently.

3. The resolution I never kept: It’s always some form of exercise or money management.

4. My top prediction for 2014: Shelly Long. She’s back!

5.  By midnight, I’ll most likely be: Completely unreachable. I’m traveling to Cappadocia, Turkey—where hotels are carved into mountainsides—so I’ll literally be hibernating in a cave.

2. I’m going to stop: Putting off renewing my passport, which expires in 2014.

3. The resolution I never kept: Back up my computer.

4. My top prediction for 2014: They’ve been calling Filipino food the “next big thing” for some time now. This is the year.

5. By midnight, I’ll most likely be: Stuffed from homemade tacos and nicely buzzed.
