Asbury Park, NJ isn’t your typical Jersey Shore town. The historic hamlet, which is dotted with charming Victorian homes, might play host to throngs of beachgoers and a thriving boardwalk scene, but it’s also home to any number of exciting new restaurants (we like The Cardinal), charming home stores and exciting nightlife options in its busting downtown. Chief among Asbury Park’s draws these days is The Asbury[1], a chic new seaside inn from hoteliers David Bowd and Kevin O’Shea of Salt Hotels—you know them from The Chequit on Shelter Island and Salt House Inn in Provincetown—that offers not only beautifully beachy guest rooms, but delightful amenities. During a recent visit, we found the hotel lobby to be something of a hub for local activity, great for grabbing a drink before a night out, playing a game of pool or people-watching as locals and visitors alike drift in and out. Here, Bowd opens up about the hotel’s most-requested room.
Most requested room:
The Suite
What makes it so special:
It has incredible ocean and city views and is so roomy
The rate:
$125 to $795 per night.
Your personal favorite room:
The Park Suite
Because…
Because of the floor-to-ceiling windows, incredible park and ocean views and beautiful design.
Fun fact: Each corridor is covered in a few of mine and CEO of iStar Financial, Jay Sugarman’s favorite songs or song lyrics. It makes me smile when I hear people humming the songs.
