Drink DuJour : The Fragolita

Find out how to make this strawberry margarita-inspired summer cocktail, just in time for the weekend.

“The Fragolita—fragole means strawberry in Italian—is our take on a strawberry margarita,” says Keith Nelson, beverage director at LAVO, the perennially popular restaurant and nightclub in midtown Manhattan. “We use Don Julio Reposado Tequila, fresh strawberries, guava nectar and fresh lime juice.”

Indeed, the drink is one of many on LAVO’s new warm-weather cocktail list. And it’s not a moment too soon.

“What can be more spring than a strawberry margarita,” Nelson asks. “It’s crisp, fruity and delicious.”

How to make a Fragolita:

1 1/2 oz. Don Julio Reposado
1 oz. sour mix
1/2 oz. strawberry puree
1/2 oz. simple syrup
1 muddled strawberry

Shake all ingredients together and strain into a Martini glass. Garnish with a strawberry.
