Room Request! The InterContinental DTLA

Anyone who has ever visited an InterContinental property will be familiar with the brand’s signature scent of glamour at every location, regardless of city or neighborhood. It’s a bit ‘future of luxury’ mixed in with the classic, unabridged version you want from your travel experience. So it’s no surprise that the InterContinental DTLA[1], while in the busiest neighborhood of Los Angeles[2], is right on brand.

Perched high on top of Downtown Los Angeles, the InterContinental’s lobby sits on floor 70—the views are indeed Instagrammable and quite peacefully away from the hustle and bustle. Floor-to-ceiling windows welcome you into this expansive space, and take you all the way to your room, where again: the views are the main dish. And speaking of, one of the hotel’s onsite restaurants, Spire 73, is one of LA’s new hotspots. Guests of the hotel are guaranteed complimentary entry to the rooftop lounge, which doubles as the tallest open-air bar in the Western Hemisphere, and if there is one thing you promise yourself during your stay in LA it’s this: go for a sunset cocktail at Spire 73—you (and your date) will not be disappointed.

“Having traveled around the world–either being a professional stuntman or hockey player, to working in hospitality for the last 20 years–I’ve learned that people crave familiarity,” Spire 73 General Manager Christopher Nelson says, “the feeling of ‘home’ no matter where they are. My goal is to create an atmosphere at Spire 73 where our guests feel an immediate sense of trust, comfort and hospitality, and know that while they are here, they’re in good hands.”

From fireplaces and throws to cozy up to, to decedent and reimagined bar food classics that rival the best anywhere on the ground has to offer, Spire 73 is a destination unto itself. If it’s your first time in LA, or your tenth, experiencing this city in this way is unbeatable.

Below, General Manager of InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown Niles Harris shares more about the property’s most requested room, and what exactly makes this location your new go-to when visiting the Hills.
