In 1995, hotel virtuoso Ian Schrager joined forces with French architect Philippe Starck to create The Delano, a property that became South Beach’s first boutique hotel and elevated the of standard of luxury accommodations in Miami. With its distinctive art-deco design and beachfront location, The Delano has remained a South Beach staple for nearly 20 years. But with 195 guest rooms, lofts, suites and duplex poolside bungalows—which one reigns supreme? We asked JP Oliver, Regional Vice President of Morgans Hotel Group, for the full rundown.
Most requested room in the hotel:
“Bungalow 8.”
What makes it special:
“While we have eight poolside bungalows, Bungalow 8 has always been the favorite ofsome of our most high-profile guests. Located right on the iconic pool and just steps from the beach, our two story bungalows offer guests the best of Miami. It has an outdoor living room and it’s also closest the bungalow to the pool bar.”
Your personal favorite:
“Although Bungalow 8 is a great choice, I personally love our line of Lofts.”
Because…
“The lofts are 550 square-feet with a partial ocean front and city view. They feature beautiful spacious tubs and a separate seating area. They also offer our most discerning guests a sense of privacy.”
Celebrity guests:
“From Jennifer Aniston, Britney Spears and Madonna, we’ve had countless celebrities stay with us at Delano South Beach.”
The rate:
“In season rate for the lofts is $1,400, and $2,500 for the bungalows.”
Fun fact:
“The hotel was named after Franklin Delano Roosevelt.”
