Manhattan gastronomes can attest that snagging a reservation at one of the city’s top restaurants is harder than you’d expect these days. With prime seats being booked close to a month in advance, the competition is cutthroat and one’s luck often boils down to a matter of mere minutes.
Resy[1], a New-York based reservations app, provides a solution to the persistent struggle plaguing Manhattanites all vying for the same reservation time each night. As a partner with notable restaurants in the city (Minetta Tavern, Rosemary’s and Balthazar, just to name a few), Resy can provide you that seemingly impossible 8pm reservation without the usual runaround with the hostess—for a fee. Ranging anywhere from $2 per seat up to $50, users can book sought-after tables as close to an hour before seating time. For serious foodies tired of choosing between the 5pm and 10pm reservation options on a Friday or Saturday night, this app is, for all intents and purposes, a godsend.
“We created Resy because we think there’s a better way to match up diners and restaurants in a world where your phone is life’s remote control,” said Resy co-founder Ben Leventhal. “If you want to eat at 8pm, you should eat at 8pm—and not have to plan for it 30 days in advance.”
Since its June 2014 launch, Resy has partnered with over 30 restaurants, a number which is growing weekly, and the company has plans to expand into additional cities in the coming months. You can also now book always-coveted brunch reservations.
