Drink DuJour: Queen Mother

Cool off with a gin cocktail

With the harsh winter far behind us, it’s time to look ahead to summer refreshments, like a crisp and light-bodied gin. Here, London-based Portobello Road Gin shares a unique (and delicious) recipe using their special blend of the season’s quintessential spirit.

“The late Queen Mother was said to be a big fan of both gin and Dubonnet,” says Portobello Road Gin Brand Director Tom Coates. “This drink is a marriage between the strong flavors in the Dubonnet and the hints of nutmeg and cassia bark found in the gin, and leaves a warm, lingering feeling on the palate.”

“She lived to be 101,” Coates adds. “Not that we’re saying this drink will help you repeat that feat.”

QUEEN MOTHER

1 oz. Portobello Road Gin
1 oz. Dubonnet
¾ oz. Aperol
¼ oz. Myers Jamaican Rum

Add ingredients into a mixing glass and stir. Strain into a glass and garnish with a grapefruit peel.
