Drink DuJour: Old Hermano

A zesty cocktail that tequila aficionados will adore

Known as the world’s best-tasting tequila, Avión prides itself on bold flavors made from Mexico’s rich highlands agave. Ingredients—from Italian espresso and caramel to cherry and pear—continue to evolve, giving the spirit a tasteful edge. The well-oiled distillery provided DuJour with a unique recipe worth trying.

“Old Hermano is an Old Fashioned variation which compounds the spicy flavors in Avión Reposado with Becherovka, a Czech liquor with clove, cinnamon and nutmeg aromas,” says mixologist Kevin Denton.

Here’s how to make it.

OLD HERMANO

1½ oz. Avión Reposado
½ oz. Becherovka
½ oz. Maple syrup
Dash of orange bitters

Stir ingredients and strain over ice. Garnish with an orange twist.
