In a region where sprawling beach resorts are a dime a dozen, Naples Grande[1] is a breath of fresh (ocean) air. The property, spread across 23 acres, brings a modern sensibility to old-school Naples with chic minimalist décor and sculptural architecture. And while other neighboring resorts seem distinctly designed with families in mind, Naples Grande feels a bit more grown up—save for the 100-foot twisting waterslide that snakes along the hotel’s Mangrove Pool, one of three on property. Adults, for their part, gravitate toward the children-free Palm Terrace Pool, where private cabanas come with butler service, refrigerators and flat-screen TVs. Settle into a chaise lounge, and you might spot Jerry Seinfeld, Sean Connery or Bill Murray—just a few of the A-list guests that Naples Grande has hosted over the years.
The hotel’s impressive guest list isn’t all that surprising, given its swanky amenities: there’s an 18-hole golf course (designed by golf-industry starchitect Rees Jones) and a tennis club with 15 championship courts that are consistently ranked among the top in the world. Its rooms, suites and villas are equally impressive—many offer oversized terraces and postcard-perfect oceanfront views. Hans Schmitt, Naples Grande’s General Manager, shares his personal favorite—plus the room that guests request most often.
The most requested room:
Signature Gulf View Suites
What makes it so special:
From the moment a guest walks through the double doors, they are immediately blown away by the breathtaking views of the Gulf Coast, perfectly framed by the suite’s floor to ceiling windows. The space’s expansive accommodation provides guests with luxurious amenities to lounge about comfortably in the living room after an eventful day out. Beach-inspired hues allow for peaceful relaxation, while unique lighting fixtures and eclectic floral vases give a modern twist to the overall vibe. A separate master bedroom enables guests to retreat to a quiet space, immersing themselves in the comfort of a king-sized bed and accompanying plush pillows. However, the private balcony is the most unique space of the suite, with 680 square feet of room angled for panoramic views of the gulf and surrounding scenery. Guests can enjoy these views lounging on wing-backed chairs or chaise lounges.
Celebrity guests:
Too many to name! Jerry Seinfeld, Joe Pesci, Sean Connery, Bill Murray, plus a variety of NFL players, past Presidents and more.
The rate:
Signature Gulf View Suites start at $800 in the off-season and $1,200 in the high season.
Your personal favorite:
Signature Gulf View Suites are my favorite—especially the South facing ones. But everyone wants a chance to stay in The Grande Suite!
Because…
It’s the largest accommodation available at the property at 2,000 square feet including a separate master bedroom and private balcony. Its interior has the most unique décor, featuring a chandelier of cascading shells above a table set for eight. The Grande Suite also boasts the largest balcony on property offering the views from the tower’s highest floor. The South view is the most impressive, offering a better angle of the city of Naples, the waterways and surrounding areas. It’s also the perfect spot for a peaceful breakfast in the morning, a reading break while laid out on some of the chaise lounges followed by a romantic candle lit dinner timed perfectly to the sunset, with a Veuve Clicquot toast. You can have a one-of-a-kind experience while staying at The Grande Suite, all without ever leaving the room.
Fun fact:
The property was originally built as a condo hotel, which is why “standard” rooms and bathrooms are much more expansive than what is usually expected. It was one of the first hotels in Naples, and it has over 16 different types of palm trees on the property.
