No hotel better embodies the spirit of New York City than The St. Regis[1]. Built in 1904 by Colonel John Jacob Astor IV, the landmark property has a fascinating and storied history—guests like Salvador Dali and Alfred Hitchcock have even called it home. But which of the hotel’s 229 guest rooms is the most desirable? We asked The St. Regis’s General Manager, Paul Nash, to weigh in.

Most requested room in the hotel:
“Since the Bentley Suite’s opening last fall, it has drawn an inundation of booking requests and is currently the most sought-after suite at The St. Regis New York.”

What makes it special:
“It’s a perfect blend of the characteristics which define both Bentley automobiles[2] and The St. Regis New York—uncompromising attention to detail, impeccable style, and flawless, personalized service. In addition to the exceptional design, the suite’s breathtaking views up Fifth Avenue to Central Park and access to the hotel’s own customized 2013 Bentley Mulsanne are unbeatable amenities.”

Your personal favorite:
“Actually, it’s the Bentley Suite. As a longtime fan of the brand, I was thrilled that we were able to collaborate with the company.”

Celebrity guests:
“While we must respect the privacy of our guests, we can say that politicians, entertainers, celebrities, and even royalty have spent the night in the Bentley Suite.”

The rate:
“The Bentley Suite sells for $10,500+ per night.”

Fun fact: “Salvador Dali lived in the hotel for years with his menagerie of exotic pets, and Alfred Hitchcock was known to spook fellow patrons by telling horrifying stories in the lifts. The original Bloody Mary cocktail was created at the hotel in 1934 by King Cole bartender, Fernand Petiot—at that time, it was called the ‘Red Snapper’ to appeal to the St. Regis guests’ sense of decorum. The hotel has played host to iconic scenes in films from The Godfather to The Devil Wears Prada.”
