Perched atop the Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle, Mandarin Oriental, New York welcomes guests with breathtaking views of Central Park, the Hudson River and the Manhattan skyline as well as a convenient location near all of the city’s major attractions. A stunning fusion of modern design with stylish Oriental flair, the property features 244 spacious guestrooms and suites; Asiate, the signature restaurant serving modern American cuisine; the Lobby Lounge showcasing floor-to-ceiling views of Central Park; a 14,500 square-foot Five-Star Spa; and a state-of-the-art fitness center with a 75-foot lap pool.

We chatted with Susanne Hatje, the General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, New York about the most requested room in the luxe city hotel.

What is the most requested room at the hotel?

Our most requested room at Mandarin Oriental, New York is our Premier Central Park View Suite.

Premier Central Park View Suite

What makes this room so special?

Our Premier Central Park View Suites feature unparalleled floor-to-ceiling views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline and have been designed to reflect New York nights using vibrant shades of amethyst throughout. A distinctive art program celebrating the hotel’s home in New York City is a focal point in each suite and is displayed to evoke the feeling of a gallery space. Pieces by Steve Wasterval are the feature throughout the Premier Central Park View Suite. The suites also include a large bedroom with a king-sized bed facing the enveloping views, a separate living room with a plush curved sofa and dining area for entertaining or work, a marble master bathroom with a rainforest shower and separate soaking tub as well as a guest powder room. Additionally, guests of the suite can enjoy a host of exclusive suite amenities, including a Suites Bedside Reading Program curated by New York-based fashion designer Joseph Altuzarra, a Suites Cocktail Program featuring a homemade ingredient along with an invitation for a complimentary cocktail inspired by the suite’s theme, and an Ensuite Meditation Program featuring DharmCrafts cushions so guests can enjoy a moment of reflection while looking onto their favorite view.

Which room is your personal favorite?

My personal favorite is Suite 5000, our newest signature suite located on the hotel’s 50th Floor. The three-bedroom suite has been designed to reflect a personal New York City residence while also blending elements of art, fashion and design to showcase the distinctiveness of the city through an array of amenities exclusive to the suite, such as a contemporary art collection featuring works by Rachel Lee Hovnanian and Steven Naifeh; a diverse record collection curated by New York City’s own Academy Records; a state-of-the-art media center; and a separate dining room accented by a Swarovski crystal wall installation. Combined with a personalized stay from start to finish, it offers our guests a unique, memorable experience unlike any other in Manhattan.
