This whiskey cocktail is bursting with Moroccan flavors

There’s nothing quite like a warm whiskey cocktail to help you brave the winter’s frigid temperatures, especially one that’s served up at Haven Rooftop, the ultra-chic cocktail lounge inside of The Sanctuary Hotel in New York City.

The space has a Moroccan oasis theme this year—think palm trees, ornate carpets and plush cushioned banquettes—and is the perfect setting to sip on this bestselling brew.

Here’s how the cocktail is created.


1 oz Fresh lemon juice
1 oz Cassia simple syrup
1 oz Fig purée
2 oz Jameson Black Barrel

Shake and strain all ingredients over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with one star anise.
