Fresh, perfectly ripe strawberries are a summer staple on par with beach days and barbeques—and basil is the secret ingredient you never knew was missing from the mix. The two complement each other perfectly, creating a taste that is fruity but not too sweet.
In this recipe from Domaine Chandon in California’s Napa Valley, the duo is mixed with sparkling rosé to create a lovely summer sip. Chandon’s winemaker Pauline Lhote describes the flavor profile as “fresh, vibrant strawberry notes on the nose along with some floral and citrus flavors. In the palate you have a combination of flavors dominated by lemon and red fruits. Zesty and bright, this cocktail is refreshing, light and delicious.
You can plan on sipping this cocktail during your next trip to wine country or serving this pink crowd-pleaser at your next summer soirée.
