Drink DuJour: Blueberry Jammin’

When Upholstery Store: Food and Wine[1] head bartender Cody Goldstein wanted to create the perfect season-specific cocktail, he drew his inspiration from a classic summer dessert: blueberry pie.

“My favorite thing is when a customer takes a sip of my cocktail and it recreates a memory for them,” Goldstein says. “Blueberry Jammin’ includes familiar flavors in an unfamiliar combination.”

Made with a mix of all-natural ingredients including blueberry jam, crème de violette and the ultra-smooth platinum extra añejo QUI Tequila, the cocktail provides a perfect balance of sweet and tart, with a slight hint of floral notes.

“The cocktail is not so light that it won’t hold with meat,” Goldstein says. “And it’s not so heavy that it overpowers fish. It’s really versatile—it can be enjoyed with anything.”

Here’s how to make it.

BLUEBERRY JAMMIN’

1½ oz. QUI Tequila
½ oz. Lemon juice
¼ oz. Crème de violette
¼ oz. Simple syrup
¼ oz. Heavy cream
1 tsp. Blueberry jam

Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice. Shake hard for five seconds and double strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a handful of edible yellow pansies.
