Dandelyan[1], the award-winning cocktail bar overlooking River Thames inside the Mondrian London hotel—is a go-to destination for guests looking to sip on innovative cocktails with exotic flavors. Owner Ryan Chetiyawardana—known to most as Mr. Lyan[2]—is the legendary mastermind behind the riveting recipes, many of which are featured in his new tome, Good Things to Drink with Mr. Lyan and Friends[3].
“The ‘Bla Bla Fix’ might sound like a strange cocktail, but it’s perfect for the holiday season and the colder months,” says Chetiyawardana. “Aquavit has a lovely herbal spice that isn’t a typical Christmas flavor, but nonetheless has a warming effect.”
Here’s how to make it.
BLA BLA FIX
12 oz. Blueberry juice
14 oz. Sugar
½ tsp. Yellow pectin
2 tsp. Honey
2 shots Aquavit
1 tsp. Lemon juice
1 tsp. Crème de cassis or blackcurrant cordial
Add the honey, aquavit, lemon and blackcurrant (liqueur or cordial) to a shaker. Stir to dissolve the honey and shake with cubed ice. Double strain into a chilled glass and sip away!
