When Hangar 1 Vodka’s head distiller Caley Shoemaker set out to build the perfect cocktail for fall, she was inspired by the flavors of one of America’s favorite seasonal desserts: apple pie.
“The cocktail bursts with layers of freshly-picked apples,” says Shoemaker. “The ingredients work well together because they are in-season and super fresh.”
The spiciness of the ginger beer and nutmeg add a nice kick to the refreshing, easy-sipping drink for autumn.
Here’s how to make it.
APPLE HINNY
1½ oz. Hangar 1 Straight Vodka
1 oz. Fresh green apple juice
½ oz. Lime juice
½ oz. Ginger beer
Nutmeg dusting
Apple fan garnish
In a shaker, combine vodka and fresh juices with ice. Shake vigorously until very cold and strain into a tall glass over fresh ice. Top off with ginger beer, dust with nutmeg and garnish.
