Don Cheadle's premiere as a director tells the story of Miles Davis, and features Cheadle himself as the legendary musician. The movie's already been bought for a 2016 release, but its closing-night spot at the New York Film Festival has made it the subject of buzzy conversation already.

Director Rebecca Miller's romantic comedy—featuring Greta Gerwig, Ethan Hawke and Julianne Moore as three parts of a very unusual love triangle—was a hit at the Toronto International Film Festival and has strong buzz around it and its three very strong leads, heading into New York.
The Lobster
Director Yorgos Lanthimos’ bizarrely charming tale imagines a world in which everyone must live as a couple. Colin Farrell plays David, who is given 45 days to find a mate otherwise he will be turned into an animal of his choosing. The film won the jury prize at Cannes and looks to be a hit with U.S. audiences as well thanks to a stellar cast that includes Rachel Weisz, Léa Seydoux and John C. Reilly.
Carol
Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara star as two women who meet by chance and fall in love against the conventions of 1950s America. Director Todd Haynes' adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s acclaimed novel is already creating Oscar buzz for both of his leading ladies.
