Formerly ensconced in a Murray Hill salon (and Sydney, Australia before that), stylist and colorist Gregorio Ruggeri has just moved his Salon Ruggeri to a cozy and eclectic NoMad space. “Our clients come to us for the best in hair color and styling, but they also love that the salon is a destination in itself with the luxury residential interior and our ever changing collection of art and furniture,” says Ruggeri.

Hair stylist and makeup artist Eva Scrivo, who's worked with Martha Stewart, has opened up a sleek flagship salon in Flatiron (she still operates one on the Upper East Side). Special design touches, like a pair 1960s Venini chandeliers upon entry and vintage Murano sconces in the makeup area, create a luxurious setting. “We worked with designer Kara Mann to create the ideal background for all the beauty services we offer,” says Scrivo. “The lofty salon area, flooded with natural light from the oversize windows facing Fifth Avenue, is ideal for the colorists to appreciate nuances in every hue. At the other end of the space, removed from the chatter and social activity, our spa rooms are soothing and cozy.”

“Our team makes the salon special,” says founder and master stylist Jon Reyman, who recently opened a third outpost of his Spoke & Weal salon in SoHo (the first two are in San Francisco and Los Angeles). Reyman, who’s known for his dry cuts, shies away from name-dropping celebrity clients in favor of superb treatments, welcoming service and a downtown vibe. “The space is cool and convenient but the authenticity of our team, the quality of their technical skills and the way they work together is world class.”
