Behold: A Beauty Bonanza

Beginning February 12, the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum[1] will present Beauty—Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial, a must-see contemporary design exhibition features projects from masters of their crafts. Beauty fills nearly two floors of the Manhattan museum[2] with works from 63 designers and displays 250 works from all around the world.

The exhibition explores various views of beauty, including fashion pieces like designer Mary Katrantzou[3]’s textured garments that glisten from afar and pulse when admired closely. From ingenious prototypes and interactive games to architectural innovations, Beauty explores luxurious and engaging designs that heighten the senses and redefine the true meaning of beauty.

Caroline Baumann, the museum’s director, says, “The exhibition will celebrate design as a creative endeavor that engages the mind, body and senses with works of astonishing form and surprising function.”

Here are some of our favorite pieces.
