Tucked away in a small village in the South of France is a historic eighteenth century chateau that was left for ruins—that is, until it got a wonderful second chance. Australian couple Craig and Karina Waters saw the beauty and history it possessed and devised a plan to reawaken and restore the charm of Chateau de Gudanes[1].
Built in Château-Verdun in the 1700s, the place has suffered extensive damage in its interior, including collapsed ceilings and water damage. However, the exquisite architecture is still alive and surviving vintage structures and wallpaper are hidden throughout. Reconstruction began in the fall of 2013 with the goal being to preserve the authenticity, elegance and natural aspects in each room.
The project is set for completion by 2016, where it will then take on a second life as a venue for visitors to tour, relax and explore.
