Since 1863, Bernardaud[1] has been in the business of brining luxury to the dining room table, creating porcelain dinnerware that’s more showpiece than plate. Now, in celebration of their 150th anniversary and a new Chelsea address in Manhattan, the brand has commissioned several heralded contemporary artists to re-imagine “les arts de la table.”
Marco Brambilla[2], Sophie Calle[3], Jeff Koons[4], Nabil Nahas[5] and Julian Schnabel[6] make up the group of artists commissioned by Bernardaud. Each plate is unique; Koons’ literal interpretation addresses the democratization of porcelain, while Calle’s conceptual representation was inspired by her own personal story incorporating notions of absence, play and ritual. With such a creative and unique new perspective on dinnerware, these designs are a great excuse to clean your plate.
The plates come in sets of six or 12 and will be available at Bernardaud stores this summer[7].
