Sound Bite: LANY, Billie Eilish and Chance the Rapper

Check out why we love these five songs released this week

With new music from Chance the Rapper, our weekend playlist is already off to an excellent start. Plus, we have a new single from Led Zeppelin-inspired rockers Greta Van Fleet, which only makes us more eager for their debut album. With an uptempo banger from Imagine Dragons that has been dubbed the anthem for this year’s ESPN college football season, you will absolutely find a surge of motivation for a productive weekend. Or at least a fun weekend. The dreamy sounds of LANY are back in full force and teasing us ahead of the release of their album Malibu Nights.

Basically, we’re encouraging you to turn up the volume on all five of these new tracks this week. Take a listen below.

1. “Natural” by Imagine Dragons

“Natural” is another explosive anthem from rockers Imagine Dragons, featuring a pulsating beat and inspiring vocals from frontman Dan Reynolds. But, it feels more unifying and somehow more powerful than the band’s past music. Chances are you’ll get some sort of confidence boost after listening to this track.

2. “When The Curtain Falls” by Greta Van Fleet

The Michigan rockers have performed at Coachella, Shaky Knees Festival and Hangout Music Festival. Ahead of their debut album, the four-piece Led Zeppelin-inspired band released a rocking new song, “When The Curtain Falls.” The song channels a retro 1970s vibe and features wildly impressive vocals from powerhouse frontman Joshua Kiszka, which are only matched by the insanely powerful drums, guitar and bass from the other members.

3. “Thru These Tears” by LANY

The indie pop trio LANY are known for their hit songs like “ILYSB” and “Good Girls” off their 2017 debut self-titled album. With their upcoming sophomore album Malibu Nights on its way, the band released the first taste in the form of “Thru These Tears.” The heartbreaking track offers a more emotional look into frontman Paul Jason Klein’s personal life and now we cannot wait for Malibu Nights.

4. “you should see me in a crown” by Billie Eilish

A surprise song release from badass singer Billie Eilish offers listeners a dark and ominous vibe, complete with spiders creepily crawling over a crown in the song’s accompanying video. “you should see me in a crown” features an infectious chorus and dynamic vocals from Eilish, as always. Produced by her brother Finneas, we cannot deny the talent within the Eilish family.

5. “Work Out” by Chance the Rapper

With four new singles released from the Grammy Award-winning independent rapper, Chance the Rapper, it was difficult to choose just one as our favorite. What really sold us was when Chance mentioned his daughter in “Work Out,” which solidified himself as our Dad of The Year winner. We also give it up to Chance for impeccable timing; releasing new music just days ahead of his headlining slot at the Special Olympics 50th Anniversary concert, produced by Special Olympics and Chance’s production company, Social Function Productions.
