Sound Bite: Florence + the Machine, White Panda and Cheat Codes

Dive into our top five new song releases from this week

Your playlist for the weekend is ready. With summer officially upon us, we are fully prepared for rooftops, pool parties and anything outdoors, really. There are a few necessary items to accompany any great outdoor soirée such as delicious cocktails, tasty cuisine and of course, fantastic ear candy. As always, our weekend playlist includes a range of music, because who really sees genre anymore? This weekend we’re ready to move our feet–and throw our hands up–to the new banger from The White Panda before racing to the dance floor to jam to the Cheat Codes release featuring none other than the British girl gang Little Mix. Though the dance tracks have us finding our rhythm in the best ways possible, the politically charged release from Beyoncé and Jay-Z has us feeling totally moved. Listen to our top five favorite new releases from this week below.

1. “Hands On Me” by The White Panda featuring Loote

Best known for their killer remixes, The White Panda has finally delivered their first original track. “Hands On Me” is a bouncy dance beat featuring flirty vocals from pop duo Loote. As the introduction to The White Panda’s solo sound, “Hands On Me” offers their same energy and catchy hooks with a just a little more flavor than we’ve seen in the past.

2. “Change” by Great Good Fine Ok

With over 1.5 million streams on Spotify, we were already convinced that “Change” was a hit. Synthpop duo Great Good Fine Ok reinforced this feeling with the release of the official video for the song. There’s a nostalgic vibe to the video complemented by the trippy electro intervals laced throughout. We’ll be sure to catch this duo at Pinknic Festival in New York City later this summer.

3. “Big God” by Florence + the Machine

With the release of Florence + the Machine’s third album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, powerhouse vocalist Florence Welch solidified herself as not only a wild performer but a breathtaking songstress. Although seeing Welch perform live (and usually barefoot) is a life changing experience, it’s clear by listening to “Big God” that this femme fatale is capable of piercing through any audio accessory.

4. “Only You” by Cheat Codes featuring Little Mix

Cheat Codes always delivers dance floor anthems. The energetic EDM trio had us hooked when they sampled the chorus from “Let’s Talk About Sex” by Salt-N-Pepa in their 2016 hit “Sex,” but with “Only You” we see the guys fully embrace a pop vibe. The song features the British girl group Little Mix, best known for “Black Magic.” Their soulful vocals combined with the summery beat drops from Cheat Codes make this a must-listen.

5. “SALUD” by Beyoncé and Jay-Z

Following the release of musical royalty’s joint album EVERYTHING IS LOVE, the Carters offered up a non-album single. Because, why not? The collaborative track is a Tidal exclusive for now but with a politically charged message and lyrics such as, “Your president tweeting about Hov like he knows us /My road to the top was to take what you owe us,” we are sure the song will make waves.
