Each week[1], there’s an avalanche of upcoming albums, films, books, theater and art—from monumental new voices in culture to guilty pleasures worth indulging in. We’re here to help narrow down what deserves your attention. Our picks for the week of July 29th are below:

The Album: After weeks of hubbub around the video for his already triple-platinum single “Blurred Lines,” R&B-pop sensation Robin Thicke will release an 11-song album of the same name[2]. Out Tuesday.

The Play: Chad Beguelin, who wrote Broadway’s Elf and The Wedding Singer, is back with Harbor, a Westport County Playhouse show[3] about a young woman and her bad-news mom who drop in unexpectedly on relations in Sag Harbor. Now in previews.

The Film: Crowd-sourced and publicly troubled, Paul Scrader-directed The Canyons[4] pairs Lindsay Lohan with adult-film star James Deen in a film penned by Bret Easton Ellis. This could go either way, but we’re dying to see. Opens Friday.

The Exhibit: Late Japanese poet and artist Kitasono Katue gets his first solo exhibit outside Japan with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Surrealist Poet[5], a look at his work on and off the page. Opens Friday.
