Most people recognize Michael Imperioli from The Sopranos and, more recently, from the second season of The White Lotus. But the actor started in theater. “I founded a company, Studio Dante, and produced my first play when I was 22,” he says. Though he’s acted in many Off- and Off-Off Broadway shows, “in all these 36 years, I’ve never acted on Broadway.” This season he gets his chance opposite Jeremy Strong (Succession) in a revival of Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People[1], newly adapted by Amy Herzog at the Circle in the Square. “It’s been one of my favorite plays since I read it in high school,” says Imperioli. “It’s a monumental classic.”
