There’s a mess of new titles out every month but really only so many you can possibly read. Here, we’re calling out the best new releases for your nightstand, coffee table and kitchen counter.

For Your Nightstand

Every Day is for the Thief[1]  is the highly anticipated sophomore effort from PEN/Hemingway Award-winning Open City author Teju Cole. The novel follows a Nigerian man who leaves New York to visit his homeland and finds a very different place than he anticipated. (Random House, $23)

For Your Coffee Table

Released to coincide with a new exhibition at Manhattan’s Guggenheim[2], Italian Futurism, 1909-1944: Reconstructing the Universe[3] features over 300 works created between 1909 and 1944 by the likes of Giacomo Balla, Umberto Boccioni, Anton Giulio Bragaglia and Fortunato Depero. A series of essays ensures that the catalogue is more than just pretty pictures. (Guggenheim Museum, $60)

For Your Kitchen Counter

Superstar chef Ferran Adriá shares 700 recipes and 1400 photographs from his world-famous (and now defunct) restaurant elBulli, which he ran from 1984 until it closed in 2011 in the seven-volume elBulli 2005-2011,[4] which retails at over $500. Considering what a reader could learn from the book , some would say it’s a bargain. (Phaidon Press, $625)
