The Making of Mike Nichols

On February 22, HBO will premiere Becoming Mike Nichols[1], an original documentary that features the late director (in what would be his final filmed appearance) in conversation with his friend and collaborator Jack O’Brien. Over the course of the film, the two discuss Nichols’ early work as a comedian and his unmatched, four-decade career making films from Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf to The Graduate and Charlie Wilson’s War. What makes the documentary[2] special is not only the chance to hear Nichols discuss his life and work, but also the chance to peek behind the scenes at the everyday moments that would become part of one of Hollywood’s most storied careers.
