The event—the brainchild of The St. Regis San Francisco General Manager, Toni Knorr—benefitted Petaluma’s Giant Steps Therapeutic Equestrian Center, raising more than $40,000 for the non-profit dedicated to enriching the lives of disabled children through therapeutic riding.

The Wine Country Polo Club in Sonoma Valley welcomed St. Regis Connoisseur, international polo player and face of Ralph Lauren Nacho Figueras, who captained the St. Regis team against major cup sponsor Hamel Family Wines’ team. The Argentinean sportsman’s team included John Ziegler, Rafael Hernandez and Erik Wright defeated their opposition 7 to 5. Hamel’s team was comprised of Colin White, Max Menini, Jef Graham and Alberto Gonzalez.

VIP guests arrived in bespoke Bentleys (a main sponsor), lounged in outdoor “livingrooms” supplied by Restoration Hardware and ate a gourmet Argentine Asado, devised by St. Regis executive chef Oliver Belliard. St. Regis Bloody Mary bars were set up around the grounds and wine tasting stations from Hamel Family Wines, Sojourn, Madrone Vineyards and Deerfield Ranch dotted the perimeter of the field.

Hosted by Knorr, along with Global Brand Leader for St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, Paul James and co-sponsored by Graff, Ruinart and The Gotham Club, the event’s silent auction featured luxurious global packages for trips to St. Regis properties in Deer Valley, Mexico City, Mauritius and Chengdu among others, as well as items such as riding gear and a “priceless” official polo jersey signed by Figueras.

Following the event, VIP guests were treated to a sumptuous al fresco dining experience at the Hamel Family Wines’ Sonoma compound.
