It was not your typical night in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Silver Lake. But when Omega takes over a former silent film studio to launch its newest line, the Globemaster, and present their brand ambassador, Academy Award-winning actor Eddie Redmayne, the experience will be anything but ordinary. The century-old historic Mack Sennett Studios was dramatically transformed to showcase the latest collection, including demonstrations by official Omega Timekeepers about magnetism and how it impacts time-telling functions.

Regarding the Globemaster collection and the world’s first Master Chronometer watch, created with anti-magnetic technology and the highest certification of accuracy by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS), “it’s going to be a new chapter for Omega,” said Stephen Urquhart, the brand’s president and CEO.

“My dad wore an Omega. A beautiful, old, classic De Ville gold watch with a brown antique strap, and it was something I looked at growing up,” Redmayne told the audience during dinner. “My dad was a bit of a style icon for me and remains one. In fact, he came with me to the Oscars the other night and was looking very dapper.”

As for Urquhart’s timepiece of choice for the event? “I’m wearing the Globemaster Annual Calendar. I think it’s fantastic,” he commented about the watch on which the months of the year appear in script. “It’s so anti-high tech in a way, visually.”

The mix of cutting-edge technology paired with an ageless sensibility resonates with Redmayne. “The history is unrivaled. And it creates legacy,” he said.
