What Does a $30K Bottle of Whiskey Taste Like?

A rare single malt scotch whiskey arrives in the U.S.

Just landed in the States: The Balvenie 50 Year Old, a rare single malt Scotch whisky, is now available for quaffing at the Talon Club at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. The Talon Club is the first U.S. establishment to offer this rare beverage—there are only 88 bottles available worldwide (with just 10 allocated for us Americans). The whisky was aged for half a century in European oak sherry hogsheads, and a single dram goes for $3,400 at The Cosmopolitan. And for those of you who don’t have a few grand to spend on a tipple, I can share this: The Balvenie 50 Year Old was fragrant with a floral nose; it had citrus notes and hints of honey, spice and oak, and a velvety, sweet finish.
