Introducing Smith & Cult Polishes

When Dineh Mohajer launched the ’90s cult polish line Hard Candy while still in college (she sold it to LVMH in 1999), it sparked a relationship with beauty that has intensified over the past two decades. “I can’t seem to escape this world,” says Mohajer. “Once you start doing something when you’re young, and it turns out to be your niche, it just felt like a natural extension for me to continue to do cosmetics.”

Her latest launch is Smith & Cult, a collection of luxury nail lacquers inspired by poignant moments in her own life. To complement the 30-shade collection, Mohajer is also releasing a journal titled “Diary of a Beauty Junkie,” which details the anecdotes and personal experiences that inspired each hue. “I hope other women can relate to those entries and say ‘I had a night just like that,’ or ‘When I wore this dress I felt good about myself,’” she says. “It’s kind of raw and silly and vulnerable.”
