DuJour’s “Body Language” column offers short tidbits of info about one specific body part each week. This week, it’s all about hands.
1. THE TREATMENT: OVERNIGHT THERAPY GLOVES
After surviving a seemingly interminable winter, our hands are cracked and dry beyond repair. Reverse the damage with a pair of overnight therapy gloves, like these from London-based facialist and skincare expert Sarah Chapman.
Her Skinesis Overnight Hand and Nail treatment is like a facial for your hands. Just slather on the product before bed, then cover with the accompanying overnight therapy gloves for hands that feel like new by morning. The silky smooth serum-oil doesn’t just work wonders in your paws—it’s also the perfect just-before-bed scent of Jasmine and Rose. 2. THE ACCENT: YELLOW GOLD AND SAPPHIRE RING
This yellow gold stunner from Bulgari’s High Jewelry Collection is comprised of a 50.01-carat sapphire—yes, you read that right—plus 3.74 carats of rubies and 1.08 carats of diamonds. Price upon request. Available at BVLGARI stores nationwide.
3. THE EXPERT/TIP: DR. ELIZABETH TANZI
According to dermatologist Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi, hands tend to show signs of age faster than other parts of the body. The reason? “They get a lot of sun exposure, yet very infrequently do people use sunscreen on them,” she explains. That said, the best way to prevent dark spots and wrinkles is to apply lotion with SPF to your hands every day. Tanzi is the Co-director of the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery in Washington, DC.
4. THE PRODUCT: SPOT-CORRECTING HAND CREAM (WITH SPF)
While most hand creams are specifically formulated to moisturize the skin, Ahava’s “Time to Smooth” is multipurpose. It hydrates, evens skin tone, reduces the appearance of dark spots—and most importantly, comes with a broad spectrum SPF 15, which protects against both UVA and UVB rays.
