Celebrity makeup artist Rae Morris on her top beauty tools and anti-aging techniques

Australian beauty pro Rae Morris—who has famously painted the faces of A-list stars Naomi Campbell, Dita Von Teese, Cate Blanchett and Miranda Kerr—returns to the U.S. with a glamorous e-book guide and a willingness to share all her secrets in Makeup: The Ultimate Guide Version Two (the follow up to her original best seller). “Done the right way, makeup can lift your confidence and in turn change the way you face the world,” she tells DuJour, “I know it sounds a bit philosophical, but it’s true and I get to see that change in action every day.”

Below, Morris answers our beauty questionnaire.

My definition of beauty is:
A healthy body, ‘kind’ eyes, a woman who has confidence and takes care of herself.

A makeup trend I will never try:
Fluorescent makeup and anything that is white, frosty or over-shimmery because it is very unflattering and highlights fine lines.

My favorite holiday look this season:
Full brows and eyeliner. What I love about this trend is anyone can wear it. A full brow is feminine, anti-aging and great at reducing puffy eyelids.

How do I achieve this?
Take an angled brush with eyebrow gel and fill in the gaps.  If you have full brows keep them well-groomed using a hint of hairspray on an eyebrow brush. As for eyeliner, it was used in so many different ways this season. For small eyes, I like to line the top eyelid only and extend out to give the illusion of a bigger eye.

My makeup kit must-haves include:
My magnetic brushes. They keep my bench space to a minimum and amazingly organized.

Bioderma Craeline is perfect for when you need to remove makeup 50 times a day and no one reacts to it.

My laptop—Stumble Upon and Pinterest are my constant sources of inspiration, including music!

My portable light. My locations are unpredictable but the light I work in can’t be…plus it’s never fun doing makeup in the dark!

Eyebrow gel. Once applied, it’s waterproof and can last for hours.

My favorite red carpet look of all time:
The Audrey Hepburn look: perfect winged eyeliner, flawless velvety skin, contoured cheeks, defined eyebrows, with either a bold red or a nude lip. It is timeless, looks expensive and can be tweaked to suit anyone. Angelina Jolie does this very well.
