Talk about a match made in heaven. French beauty brand Caudalie and New York-based designer Jason Wu have recently teamed up to collaborate on a Collector’s Edition bottle of Caudalie’s famed Beauty Elixir. The partnership between the two brands came about organically. Mathilde Thomas, Caudalie’s founder, and Wu met a few years ago at the Caudalie Vinothérapie Spa at The Plaza Hotel. Wu had been a fan of the brand and used the Beauty Elixir often; in fact, he gives makeup artists who are working at his show the product to use on models. So when Thomas approached him about collaborating, it felt right.
“[I] never wanted a collaboration to feel as if it was made in a boardroom,” says Thomas. Wu agrees, noting that it felt like a seamless partnership seeing as how both brands focus on luxury. Wu kept his own customer in mind when designing or, as he says, “dressing” this Collector’s Edition bottle. He selected lace from his own spring/summer 2016 collection and made a pattern of it to apply to the bottle. The bottle cap is gold, inspired by the hardware found in many of Wu’s accessories.
The indulgent Elixir will likely make more than one appearance backstage at this upcoming New York Fashion Week, but customers can snap it up now at caudalie.com.
