1996, the fragrance collaboration between Byredo’s Ben Gorham and famed photography team Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, was initially intended to be a private edition perfume but—by popular demand—was released to the public in 2013. This month, fans of the scent can enjoy it in another form with the launch of the 1996 candle.
The dyed red wax is evocative of the love between the two artists, and its notes are identical to those of its perfume counterpart. The scent opens with juniper berries and black pepper, transitions to violet, leather and orris and has base notes of patchouli, black amber and vanilla.
For scent connoisseurs, there is simply no better way to add a warm aroma to your space this season and, if you stock up, for many seasons to come.
The candle will be available for $95 (240g) beginning this month at Barneys and from Byredo.com.
