When watching a runway show during New York Fashion Week, obviously the fashions are the main attraction. From show-stopping gowns at Christopher John Rogers to sleek and sexy styles from Tom Ford, the looks so far have been pretty killer. But, aside from the fashions themselves, the beauty treatments on the runway can really amplify a showing to another world. The hair looks can change a model’s entire look and add a certain energy to a runway. At the Fall/Winter 2020 NYFW runway show for MONSE this year, the fashion brand nabbed Brooklyn-based hair brand amika to create the hair looks.
Global Artistic Director of amika, Naeemah LaFond, worked with MONSE to create textured, grunge-inspired, beach waves. The fashions from MONSE ranged from tartan-embellished trench coats to edgy silk dresses matched with clunky boots. The cool, nonchalant hair balanced the rebellious styles perfectly. See below for a step-by-step guide to achieving this hair look using amika products.
1. Begin the style by applying Blockade Heat Defense Serum throughout the hair.
2. Use The Confidante Moisture-Maintenance Styler to create loose and non-uniformed waves—making sure the face-framing pieces are not identical as far as wave placement.
3. Once the waves are created, spray Un.Done Volume and Matte Texture Spray.
4. Finish the look by applying Got Grit Dry Texture Paste throughout the ends for added texture.
