Changing seasons can be tricky when it comes to skincare. It often means switching to a heavier moisturizer and a gentler cleanser but also signals a return to serums. We all know about them—famed purveyors of hydration and anti-aging properties—but surprisingly many of us skip this part of the skincare regime, if we don’t forget about it altogether.

I admit I am guilty as charged. By the time I’ve finished removing my makeup, cleansing, toning and moisturizing, I’m ready to move on. But serums should not be overlooked: When properly used—on cleansed skin and before your moisturizer—they not only keep your skin feeling hydrated and radiant, but they also maximize the effects of the other products that you use.

Thanks to their light texture, serums are easily absorbed and penetrate into the deepest levels of the skin. They’re also highly concentrated, which means you’re getting a boost of vitamins and anti-oxidants, making them ideal for any age and skin type.
