7:02am Wake up (!!) in Times Square. Coffee, shower and review notes before jumping on an 8am production call with my producer, director, graphics and game talent. We go over all details before the 1pm game.
9:41am My hot girl TV disguise is on. Now it’s time to print notes, check out of the hotel and hit the stadium!
10:45am A view of beautiful Yankee Stadium, which is also the home of New York City Football Club. Today they are hosting the Seattle Sounders in MLS action.
11:47am NYCFC Head coach Patrick Vieira meets with local broadcasters to answer last minute questions and explain the lineup. I always attend to get the most updated information.
12:36pm Found a non-team related poncho and am ready to rock the sideline. However, you can't see just how hard it's raining (no people in the stands for a reason!) and my mic got soaked before we were about to go on air. Thankfully, the audio crew was able to give me a backup mic at the last minute.
1:03pm We are ON AIR, and I’m talking about young Venezuelan midfielder Yangel Herrera, who has been shining. I’m keeping it together despite the rain in my nose. Definitely no need for the early morning work on the hot girl disguise.
2:57pm NYCFC wins 2-1. I made it through the crazy, grass-soaked game to see NYCFC captain David Villa notch 2 goals and pass the 50 goal mark in 78 games. He’s the fifth fastest player in league history to do so.
3:13pm Production truck at Yankee Stadium. Time to change my soaking wet clothes and jump in a car to Philadelphia with the crew for our game Sunday! (They were inside during the game, obviously). I’m on the road about 280 days out of the year. It’s gnarly, and it’s been like this for about the last three years. Before that I was primarily just in the studio.
5:15pm My ESPN coworker Taylor Twellman is all tuckered out from providing so many hot takes in today's broadcast. Now he has to rest up for tomorrow!
8:17pm No rest for the wicked. After doing research and phone interviews for tomorrow's game, we have dinner at the hotel watching other MLS action around the league. Mmmm, ice cream sandwich.
