Coqodaq, the innovative fried chicken concept from Simon Kim’s Gracious Hospitality Management and the Michelin-starred Cote Korean Steakhouse team, has opened in Flatiron. Designed by the Rockwell Group as a fried chicken mecca, the concept promises better fried chicken (the team sources air-chilled chicken, uses Zero Acre oil and employs a unique gluten-free batter blend with rice flour) served alongside cold accompaniments like pickled vegetables and a selection of banchan. The restaurant thinks that champagne is the best pairing and the list features an extensive selection of over 400 rare and exclusive bottles.

Korean Chinese restaurant, Octo, has opened in Koreatown from Steve and Christina Jang (NewWonjo). While Korean Chinese cuisine dates back to the 19th century, it has not yet been widely celebrated in New York. The food nods to the rich history and traditional foundations upon which Korean Chinese cuisine is built, ensuring that time-honored flavors are an integral part of the menu. Menu highlights include cucumber radish salad, jajangmyeon (beef striploin, truffle, onion and homemade black bean paste) and Peking duck served with cucumber and carrot matchsticks, scallions and boiled water pancakes.

New Chinese restaurant Tolo is pairing its culinary delights with unique and rare wines by the glass and the bottle in Dimes Square. Chef Ron Yan (Parcelle) is in the kitchen at this hidden gem, literally hidden as it boasts the awning of its predecessor Ming’s Caffe. The pared-down menu offers such delicacies as salt and pepper tofu, sauteed string beans with ground pork, sticky rice with Chinese sausage and crab and broccoli fried rice. Pair them with unique and reasonable wines by the glass in this dark, candlelit space.

Dot’s has opened in Hell’s Kitchen from founder Mandy Oser (her beloved Ardesia wine bar is just across the street). The mouth watering all-day menu is helmed by Ardesia chef Amorette Casaus and features sandwiches, soups, salads, pastries and coffee. Dig into a Dot’s Breakfast Sandwich with sausage, fried egg, sharp cheddar cheese and tomato jam on a poppy kaiser or a turmeric fonio bowl featuring turmeric fonio, green beans, cherry tomatoes, radish, sunflower seeds, arugula and green goddess dressing. A color palette of oranges and creams, mid-century modern furniture and a large-scale mural gives a slight retro vibe to the otherwise modern feel of the space.

Hoexter’s has opened on the Upper East Side from restaurateur Alexandra Shapiro (Flex Mussels) reviving her parents’ first restaurant just a few doors down from where the original location opened almost half a century ago. “I’d have to say this is the most personally meaningful project I’ve worked on,” says Shapiro. “My parents opened the original Hoexter’s in 1977, before I was even born, and it’s safe to say it laid the foundation for our family’s life in hospitality. The menu includes beef carpaccio with celery gremolata, parmesan and beef fat croutons, fried calamari arrabiata with cherry peppers and tomato sauce and pork Milanese with endive, button mushrooms and dijon vinaigrette. Interior designer Sasha Bikoff utilized black-and-white penny tile floors, checkered bathrooms and plaid wallpaper alongside a pine green, burgundy, mustard and midnight blue color palette.

Sailor is the new Fort Greene bistro from chef April Bloomfield and restaurateur Gabriel Stulman. The light-filled and well-appointed space, designed by Alfredo Paredes (Polo Bar) and inspired by classic New York taverns, is just the setting in which to enjoy the perfect roast chicken, mussel toast, smoked arctic char pâté and profiteroles.

Bangkok Supper Club is the latest restaurant from the group behind Fish Cheeks, serving inventive, contemporary Thai cuisine in a sophisticated setting evocative of Bangkok after hours. A charcoal grill is at the heart of the menu, where Bangkok-born chef Max Wittawat plays with tradition to create vibrant, shareable plates rooted in the electrifying flavors of the the city’s late-night culinary scene—think fried sticky rice-stuffed chicken wings, whole grilled branzino and grilled pork jowl atop garlic fried rice.

Cecchi’s is a new American restaurant in the West Village from industry veteran and author Michael Cecchi-Azzolina. With a nod to classic New York City establishments such as Elaine’s, Mortimer’s and the Stork Club, Cecchi's skillfully blends tradition with a contemporary allure. Expect a selection of succulent steaks, chops and seafood, as well as fun riffs on classic cocktails. The café area and main dining room showcase murals by artist Jean-Pierre Villafañe, while pieces by artist Cacho Falcon add a touch of whimsy. The restaurant, designed by Studio Becky Carter, emanates a vibrant, sexy ambiance that is enhanced by lighting by Hervé Descottes of L’Observatoire International.

Revelie Luncheonette opened on SoHo offering a casual-yet-elevated diner setting drawing inspiration from the luncheonettes and soda fountains that charmed the neighborhood from the 1920s on (think vinyl banquettes, mosaic-tile floors and textural tin accents) Chef David Honeysett (who also captains the Raoul's kitchen across the street) serves hearty favorites like clams casino, French onion soup, a green chile cheeseburger, an all-day omelette and crinkle cut fries. Cocktails and French wines are on offer as are the restaurant's signature sweets like shakes and ice cream sundaes.

New Italian concept Amarena, from chef Julian Medina and restaurateur Louis Skibar (Toloache, El Fish Marisqueria), has opened on the Upper East Side. The 60-seat, two-story restaurant features a 12-seat bar and décor inspired by Italian summers and the Amalfi Coast. “Since visiting Italy again last year, I’ve spent countless hours perfecting my favorite dishes,” says Medina. Menu highlights include baked clams, grilled octopus, veal Milanese, capellini alla nerano with zucchini, gold bar squash, zucchini blossom and provolone and, of course, pizza (the Tartufata is topped with truffle burrata, pecorino Toscano, parmigiano and fresh black truffles and the Soppressata Picante features peaches and Calabrian chili honey).

Maison Sun has opened in downtown Brooklyn with an intimate 12-guest stainless steel chef’s counter and open kitchen. Under the direction of executive chef Aaron Whittle (Eleven Madison Park and Le Coucou), the tasting menu is a gastronomic journey that melds French techniques with innovative flair. The concept was masterminded by Dr. Carlos Gasperi in 2020 and this is its first brick-and-mortar space. "I ventured to create an underground fine dining scene, hosting curated experiences across New York City luxury apartments," says Gasperi. "Said journey led me to the historic location of the original Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare." The unique space boasts luxurious design elements like a vintage Molteni stove, Mauvier cookware, Laguiole cutlery and gold and silver Christofle place settings. And, of course, each of the eight modern French courses and wine pairings are equally decadent and special.

Soledad has opened on the Upper East Side from co-owners Julian Medina (chef/owner of El Fish Marisqueria and Toloache) and Meghan Manzi, the same duo behind the three New York locations of La Chula and El Verano in Southampton. Chef Medina puts a modern, personal touch on Mexican dishes like Iberico pork meatballs, mortadella quesadillas and chicken enchiladas. Pablo Castellenos designed the 1,700-square-foot space to embody contemporary Mexican culture, mirroring the colors and architecture found throughout Mexico City. The 14-seat bar and 15-table restaurant is washed in shades of pink and lavender with botanical wallpaper and white oak accents.

The new location, the first opened 20 years ago in SoHo, offers the restaurant's popular breakfast and all-day menus, from bowls and salads for lunch to pastas and burgers for dinner, alongside an all new cocktail menu and full bar. The warm and neutral multi-level space, designed by Tara Bean, features vibrant plants, white oak and rattan furniture, oversized muted pendants and lots of natural light.

Established in 1984 by Mark Di Giulio and Peter Meltzer, Quatorze has been serving up French bistro-inspired fare for nearly four decades. From its early days, the mission was simple: create delicious, simply made French dishes in an intimate ambiance with the best ingredients possible, right in the heart of New York City. Now in its 39th year, Quatorze finds its new home on First Avenue and 82nd Street under the stewardship of general manager and partner, Alex McNeice. With a 65-seat dining room, 9-seat bar, 20-seat outdoor area and a private dining room that can accommodate up to 35 people, the restaurant serves French bistro fair for dinner and for brunch Thursday-Sunday.
