In a remote corner of Kauai’s North Shore, you’ll find 9,000 acres of Hawaiian paradise at the St. Regis Princeville[1]. The property, which underwent a multi-million dollar renovation in 2009, boasts 251 gorgeous rooms and suites, a Jean-Georges restaurant and an infinity pool with views that’ll leave even the most seasoned traveler speechless. St. Regis Princeville’s General Manager Milton Sgarb took us inside the hotel’s most requested room and the spaces that served as the set for George Clooney’s Academy Award-winning film.

The Royal Suite

The Royal Suite

The most requested room:

Among our Crown Suite Collection, The Royal Suite—which is our top suite—is the most requested.

What makes it so special:

The Royal Suite’s interior design embraces the interplay between indoors and out; a signature of Hawaiian-style living. A private marble entry vestibule welcomes you into the grand living salon and formal dining room with seating for eight. The Royal Suite has multiple outdoor terraces, stunning Hawaiian artwork and a handcrafted Murano Glass chandelier and sconces, which are contrasted by bold Hawaiian textiles. There’s a media room, a fully equipped kitchen with private butler’s entrance and a master bedroom suite that features a rattan four-poster bed and armoire. The Royal Spa includes a custom-built marble whirlpool tub, expansive marble walk-in shower for two and comfortable dressing quarters.

The rate:

The Royal Suite room rate is $7,450 and the Presidential Suite is $6,100 per night.

Your personal favorite:

The Presidential Suite.

Because…

The Suite is beautifully appointed throughout with rare blue Italian quartzite marble. It’s located on the hotel’s top floor, affording wrap-around views of Hanalei Bay and the surrounding mountains. The luxe living room offers contemporary furnishings in blue and neutral tones reflective of the sea and beach and offers a casual, sophisticated ambience.

Fun fact:

Scenes from The Descendants starring George Clooney were filmed at the St. Regis Princeville, including the Presidential Suite, the lobby and the beach.
