Can This Plane Reduce Jet Lag?

Airbus and Qatar Airways partner to introduce the first aircraft that makes passenger wellbeing a high-tech affair

We all know air travel isn’t what it used to be. From the long security lines and over-crowded planes, to bad food and the dreaded jet lag, it’s enough to put you off getting on a long-haul flight ever again.

Luckily, Airbus and Qatar Airways are aiming to change that with their newly introduced fleet of A350 XWB aircrafts that are all about promoting passenger wellbeing. Here’s the 411:

Bigger is better
The A350 boasts wider seats throughout (XWB stands for Xtra Wide Body, after all) which means more room to stretch out and catch some Zzzs.

Shhhh
A lightweight carbon fiber structure and bigger wingspan means less energy is needed to propel the aircraft, which in turn reduces drag and noise levels and makes it more fuel-efficient.

Breathe in
Advanced air conditioning technology controls humidity and provides optimal cabin air quality by refreshing the air every two to three minutes.

I see the light!
LED lights throughout the plane mimic the sun’s natural progression and work with the body’s circadian rhythms to help reduce the effects of jet lag when you arrive at your destination.
