Room Request! One&Only Ocean Club Resort

See inside Paradise Island’s original luxury resort in the Bahamas

The One&Only Ocean Club Resort has just completed a stunning, multi-million dollar renovation to its Hartford Wing rooms (named after the property’s original owner, A&P Supermarket heir Huntington Hartford) and has added a much-needed beachfront infinity pool and adjacent restaurant grill. Under the design helm of HKS Architects and Jeffrey Beers International, the 52 rooms and suites in the historic wing have expanded in size and been renovated from top-to-bottom—they all now feature terraces, wood paneling and marble bathrooms (with state-of-the-art Japanese toilets and rainfall showers).

The new 125-foot long Ocean Pool (the property’s third) overlooking the white sand beach abuts the new Ocean Pool Grill and offers fresh seafood, salads and grill fare along with craft cocktails.

There is also the Dune restaurant, which offers breakfast, lunch and dinner overseen by famed chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten using organic vegetables, fruits, plants and herbs sourced from nearby Holey Farm

The resort also features an elaborate terraced garden modeled after those at the Château de Versailles, built by founder Huntington Hartford. These traditional gardens include elegant statues of Carrera marble as well as an entire 12th-century Augustinian cloister from France that was reassembled piece-by-piece on site.

Below, the One&Only Ocean Club Resort’s General Manager John Conway tells us about the most sought-after room on the property.

The most requested room:
Since reopening in November 2015, the newly enhanced Ocean View One Bedroom Suite in the iconic Hartford Wing has become the most requested.

Your personal favorite:
I personally love our private villas, specifically the four-bedroom Villa where the James Bond film Casino Royale was filmed.

Because
With four bedrooms, a living room, full kitchen with Viking range, private infinity pool, and of course 24-hour Butler service, One&Only spa services available ensuite, personal golf cart, and more—the Villa is really the perfect getaway for families or a group of friends. And one of the greatest features is having a private chef!

Fun fact:
When it first opened in 1962, Huntington Hartford hosted the “Bal du Paradis” and guests included William Randolph Hearst, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Mr. and Mrs. Benny Goodman, Burl Ives, and Mr. & Mrs. Igor Cassini (aka Cholly Knickerbocker, the pre-eminent gossip columnist of the day), as well as a host of politicians, Dukes, Earls, and Ambassadors from the all over the world.
