Instead, this 1960s themed watering hole, recently opening earlier this year, offers an unrivaled price point for a repertoire of cocktails dedicated to innovation and groovy sensations. The Woodstock Bar Manager, Joe Masse designed Evil Ways, named after Santana’s 1969 debut hit. With the possibility of Jim Morrison on deck, indulge in Evil Ways to get the perfectly oddball combination of retro-Tiki vibes and Rye.
Time and time again, Tiki drinks have been made with mostly rum, but in true Woodstock fashion, Masse wanted to break some rules. By using premium Rye like Sagamore Spirit paired with homemade matcha and blueberry habanero syrups, the flavor profile staggers somewhere between natural sweetness and an edgy Rye kick. By choosing Sagamore Spirits Rye instead of typical rum, the results stay true to the Woodstock’s radical yet well balanced identity.
For an edgy cocktail, it’s only fitting that Evil Ways is strained satirically into a vibrant ceramic Tiki mug and topped with a mini umbrella. 1.5 ounces Sagamore Spirit Rye
.5 ounces Homemade blueberry Habanero
.5 ounces Matcha simple syrup
.25 ounces fresh lemon juice
2 dashes Tiki bitters
Preparation: Combine all ingredients, shake and strain. Garnish with a grapefruit wedge, rosemary and a tiki umbrella.
