Some of late fashion designer Stephen Sprouse’s work—like those graffiti-style bags for Louis Vuitton—are unforgettable. But some of the work the New York-based designer did has never been seen before. Until now.
Some of Sprouse’s sketches have been collected into the new book, Stephen Sprouse: Xerox/Rock/Art, which gives admirers a peek into his private notebooks, photo albums and drawing pads. The book’s editors, Carol McCranie and Javier Magri, were admirers of Sprouse and his work and, lucky for fashion lovers everywhere, they happened to stumble upon these sketches and inspiration materials as they were being thrown out.
Sprouse’s sketches draw upon inspiration from artists such as Andy Warhol and Keith Haring as well as music icons Patti Smith and Debbie Harry, the latter of whom wrote the book’s introduction. With hundreds of sketches, personal notes and sources of inspiration the book is sure to give fashion aficionados insight into his life and work.
