Frye Expands for its 150th Anniversary

The American brand opens a Boston flagship in the former Charley’s restaurant townhouse

Open For Business: Frye Boston Flagship, 284 Newbury Street, Boston, MA, 02115, (617) 247-FRYE, thefryecompany.com

Atmosphere: The iconic boots company honored the original design of the rustic 9,000-square-foot corner townhouse property, located in the middle of the historic shopping area, while gleaning inspiration from its SoHo space. There’s old photographs decorating the walls, and you can’t miss the 9,000 hand-hung harness rings cascading from above.

Were coveting: When in New England, there’s nothing we want to slip our feet into more than a pair of leather boots for fall and sandals for summer—the flagship offers both (especially noteworthy: the main riding boot collection). Additionally, shoppers can peruse a lounge-style men’s room, plus a complete wall display of leather accessories.

Pièce de résistance: The “Library” room—with a working fireplace.
