Heat Rises: 5 New York Rooftops for Summer

The best places to cool off when the temperatures soar are located high above the Big Apple

New Yorkers summering in the city have been plagued with heavy rains, temperatures in the low forties and a mini-monsoon that turned Governors Ball into Glastonbury. If you happened to be one of the unlucky few million, you may have found yourself raincoat-clad and wondering if this is the “disturbing sign of things to come” Al Gore was referring to—or in a less apocalyptic manner—when you might finally be able to work on your tan.

Out of blind hope that at some point this summer we’ll be able to wear that gorgeous, impulsively-purchased swimsuit, DuJour has put together a list of the city’s chicest outdoor pools and hotels, where both guests and non-guests can grab a drink, take a dip and beat the heat—that we imagine will come sooner or later.

Jimmy at the James Hotel

Voted best rooftop bar in the city, its 360-degree views of the Manhattan skyline and roof deck pool are open after 9pm (if you can get past the door.)
